National Canners Limited

National Canners Limited, formerly called Matouk Food Products Limited, came into being in 1967 when the Matouk family saw the potential of our
indigenous fruits and vegetables and their use in the food processing
industry. The Company has grown considerably since its inception and is one
of the leading and largest food manufacturing companies in the region. It is also the
largest buyer of indigenous local fruits and vegetables from farmers in
Trinidad and Tobago. 

We employ over 400 employees many of whom have been with us since the beginning. Our product range has substantially grown
and we now manufacture over 200 different products, many of which
contain indigenous raw materials such as hot peppers, sorrel, coraille,
pawpaw, mangoes, cucumber, guava, bell peppers and pimentos. These are
obtained through a collaborated effort with our local
farmers/producers who play a critical role in the supply of these inputs
necessary to begin the production process.

The raw materials are used to produce products such as pepper sauce,
specialty jams and jellies - (guava, mango, sorrel jelly), mango chutney,
kuchela, hot chow, green seasoning, relish and salsa.

Our products are distributed through four brands - the well-known Matouk’s,
MP, Mabel and National. Our products are sold to local, regional and
international markets, thus enabling us to sell our country through its cuisine
while providing locals residing abroad, with a taste of home. The Company
is locally owned and managed.
