MUD LOGGING GEOLOGIST

Major Responsibilities:

The Mud-Logging Geologist will be responsible for ensuring efficiency, safety and cost control by providing client organisations with a detailed analytical record of the geology, oil and gas shows, drilling and mud parameters and related problems encountered during drilling and completion operations.

Candidates should possess knowledge of and or ability to undertake at least the following:

• Perform or supervise the collection of cutting samples from the proper lagged depths and at the proper intervals as required for evaluation.
• Examine and describe samples as per oil industry standards and client’s specifications.
• Evaluate all samples for the presence of hydrocarbon shows.
• Closely monitor gas levels, lag time and drilling parameters and report on anomalies requiring further action.
• Monitor and evaluate all data in order to identify abnormal indications of unforeseen hazardous events.
• Prepare, maintain and submit regular and timely reports to all stakeholders based on geological and drilling data.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on all equipment including sensors and gas instruments.
• Comply with all Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental regulations and procedures.

 Requirements:

• B Sc. Geology, Petroleum Geology or Petroleum Engineering from a recognized University
• Minimum of two (2) years experience as a Mud Logger or related experience within the oil & gas industry.
• Computer Literate with outstanding computer skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• A strong team player with outstanding interpersonal skills.
• Ability to and willingness to work in a fast paced off-shore environment.
• Experience with mechanical equipment would be an asset.
