OUR MANDATE
The purpose and mandate of the Ministry of Education first and foremost, is to promote education of the people of Trinidad and Tobago and to establish institutions devoted to the development of the human resources, physical, mental, moral and spiritual needs of the community;

The Ministry manages a school network which spans across eight (8) education districts and which consists of: 479 primary schools 135 secondary schools 170 ECCE centres 3, 000 public servants 260, 000 students(primary and secondary) 14, 000 teachers

OUR FOCUS
The focus of the Government’s policy is the creation of a comprehensive, modern education system that is able to provide the training and knowledge as well as inculcate the skills and aptitudes relevant to the development needs of Trinidad and Tobago.

STRUCTURE
The present structure of the Ministry of Education makes provision for a strong executive team which consists of Minister of Education who is assisted by a Permanent Secretary, two Deputy Permanent Secretaries and a Chief Education Officer. This team together with some 32 other divisions and units, are charged with responsibility to develop and deliver quality education in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago up to secondary school level.
