Medical Laboratory Technician I

To perform routine and semi complex testing on all types of specimens including tissues, body fluids, and other body exudates for clinical diagnosis in all sections of the Laboratory.

JOB SUMMARY

To perform routine and semi complex testing on all types of specimens including tissues, body fluids, and other body exudates for clinical diagnosis in all sections of the Laboratory.

KEY FUNCTIONS

• Identification, preparation and examination of samples and specimens.

• Collection and registration of samples and specimens.

• Preparation of media and reagents.

• Maintenance of sanitary conditions and Laboratory equipment.

•  Disposal and storage of potentially bio-hazardous materials.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE

• University Degree in a related Science / Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology, or an Associate Degree or equivalent Certification, in Medical Laboratory Technology.

• At least three (3) years experience in a similar or related job function.

• Registration with the Council for the Professions related to Medicine.
