Applications are invited for the position of Marketing Officer in our Marketing Department.
The Marketing Officer is responsible for the coordination of all aspects of media planning and production while monitoring competitor activity for competitive advantage.
Accountabilities
- Conduct media planning for all campaigns, produce schedules for approval and book advertisement appearances.
- Monitor competitor activity in both broadcast & print media.
- Monitor the appearance of all UNICOMER advertisements across the various media.
- Establish & maintain effective relationships with media representatives.
- Achieve frequent, timely & positive media coverage across available media.
- Prepare and submit advertising claims to local and international suppliers.
- Approve payments for media and submit for payment.
- Manage all aspects of print production, receipt and distribution.
- Co-ordinate the production of marketing materials - Proofing of ads for spelling, grammar, images, layout etc and follow through of ads with relevant parties to completion and sending to media.
- Work closely with Regional Marketing on all production of ads and POS – Open briefs, monitor status, communicate changes and ensure on time completion of material for Marketing and other departments as requested.
- Copy write ads as needed.
- Prepare and communicate Promotional Memos for all ads appearing in the relevant media.
- Coordinate Photography for items to be advertised.
- Process of Production invoices and passing onto Finance for payment and ensuring payment is made to CAPS.
- Provide media spend report on a monthly basis.
- Prepare accrual information for Marketing department on a monthly basis.
- Schedule and traffic all work through the department, including awareness of the status of each job at any given time and ensuring all advertising materials are ready for the launch of each promotion.
- Ensure accuracy and final approval of all materials, through liaison with the Purchasing department before sending for insertion in media.
- Initiate and take responsibility for checklists regarding all up-coming campaigns.
- Maintain database of media contacts.
- Assist Marketing Manager with the execution of promotions – Shopping Sprees, representation at sponsored events etc.
- Brochure coordination – to follow through on production of brochures from opening of job to completion of artwork and delivery to the printer.
- Communicate with the printers to ensure on time delivery of material to the relevant distribution channels and follow up to ensure brochure was distributed on time.
- Ensure point of sale is dispatched to printer and branches in time for launch of each promotion.
- Maintain media bookings within set monthly budget.
Qualification / education:
- Diploma in Marketing or Advertising
- Five (5) GCE/CXC Ordinary level passes including Mathematics and English Language
- Three (3) years experience in an Advertising Agency in either the traffic or media departments
