REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: The Manager Mortgages reports to the Executive Manager Investments.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Education

  • Post Graduate Degree in Accounting, Economics, Management or Professional designation

Experience

  • Minimum of ten (10) years experience in a medium to large financial institution, with at least the last five (05) years being in a senior management position.
  • Any relevant combination of training and experience

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Manage the Board's Mortgage Portfolio.
  2. Prepare annual departmental operational plans and budgets and ensure that actual performance is   consistent with established performance guidelines and objectives.
  3. Ensure that individual mortgages are managed in accordance with Investment Committee policies and guidelines, statutory requirements, industry norms and prudent financial management practices.
  4. Recommend, direct, and control as appropriate, the application of computer-based management information and processing systems designed to facilitate timely and correct performance of mortgage management tasks including management and statutory reporting requirements.
  5. Prepare routine and ad hoc reports and statements as required by Board of Directors, executive management and statutory/regulatory bodies.
  6. Ensure compliance with the Board's Human Resources Management policies and procedures, including Industrial Agreements, as pertains to assigned area of responsibility.
  7. Ensure that the Board's Human Resources Management systems and programs are implemented within assigned area of responsibility.
  8. Actively participate in the Finance and Business Unit's management decision-making processes as a member of the Unit's Management Team.
  9. Prepare audit schedules and responses to audit queries in respect of internal and external audits of assigned area of responsibility.
  10. Take appropriate steps to ensure that the Mortgages Department is adequately provided with all equipment, operating systems and supplies, information and physical amenities necessary for the efficient and effective conduct of the Department's business and the maintenance of a safe, comfortable and healthy work environment.
  11. Develop, implement and ensure compliance with appropriate internal control systems designed to safeguard the Board's physical and intellectual assets utilised and controlled within assigned area of responsibility.
  12. Ensure that all mortgage transactions are recorded in the Accounting Records on a timely basis and liaises with the Financial Accountant to ensure compliance with applicable generally acceptable accounting principles, practice and performance deadlines.
  13. Ensure strict compliance with all safety and security policies and procedures within assigned area of responsibility.
