SCOPE: This individual will be responsible for all Plant mechanical maintenance activities as an individual or as a part of a work team. This also includes minor instrumentation tubing/fitting and AC systems related works.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintain Plant equipment to the highest possible standard so as to maximize availability, reliability, efficiency, and minimize losses and penalties.
Assist in conducting acceptance and performance tests on new or existing equipment.
Perform routine and emergency equipment maintenance work.
Coordinate daily work activities and equipment status with other employees.
If necessary, work shift work, overtime and 24 hour emergency "on-call" status to maintain equipment.
Perform equipment installations, adjustments, and repairs.
Review equipment maintenance history records and report findings.
Recommend equipment operating and/or maintenance changes that will enhance performance and availability.
Develop and implement maintenance procedures and records for Plant mechanical equipment.
Assist with the mechanical maintenance training for Plant employees.
Assist with and oversee work of maintenance contractors.
Develop and fabricate special tooling, rigging equipment and replacement parts for equipment.
Perform any combination of duties in welding, brazing, thermal and arc cutting activities.
Required to operate the following machine shop equipment: Metal Lathe, drill press, band saw, surface grinder, stationary grinder, portable grinders and similar equipment.
Maintain working area in a clean and neat condition.
Perform assigned responsibilities in accordance with Site Procedures
Responsible to immediate supervisor for compliance with the Company’s Environmental Compliance Program and that all reasonable precautions have been taken to prevent incidents of noncompliance by you or others. You shall further be responsible to immediately report to your supervisor any known or suspected violations to the environmental program or any situation they suspect could lead to a violation.
Responsible to maintain confidentiality of all information available to the position.
Perform all duties and responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor to this position, but not specifically stated in this description.
Proper personal hygiene is required by all employees.
Assist in outage planning.
Participate in Reliability Based Maintenance (RBM) and Quality programs as required.
Perform work at other Owner rented, lease or owned locations within Trinidad & Tobago.
Assist the Operation department as required during absence or high demand situations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Engineering Technician's diploma (M.E.T.) or Associate degree in Industrial Technology with three (3) years work related experience; or Craftsman’s Diploma plus Five (5) years of directly related work experience. Power plant maintenance experience strongly preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Must possess integrity and trustworthiness.
Must have demonstrated skill in verbal and non-verbal communications.
Must be able to pass welding certification testing.
Completely knowledgeable in machine coupling alignment.
Familiar with maintenance of pumps, compressors, turbines, generators, etc.
Must be able to perform piping and valve installation.
Must have experience or knowledge of painting.
Must have machine shop experience.
Must be able to personally respond to plant emergencies.
Must be physically capable of climbing stairs and ladders.
Must be capable of physically demanding work at heights and with adverse conditions during operations and when participating in fire/emergency activities.
Must be physically capable of entering and working in a confined space.
Must be physically cap able of lifting 50 Ibs. of weight.
Must have eyesight corrected to 20/40 to accurately read and interpret instruments and gauges.
Must be physically capable to pass a respirator physical and respirator fit test.
Must be physically capable to work a rotating shift schedule.
Must be physically capable to hear and understand audible alarms, detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment, and portable radio communication.
