Job Objective 

The incumbent is responsible for ensuring high equipment availability, uptime and optimisation of Maintenancecosts whilst employing sound maintenance management principles and practices. 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities 

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the following: 

  • Develop maintenance plans for all equipment
  • Possess sound knowledge in the Maintenance, Troubleshooting and repairs to various equipment from basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance to component replacement
  • Ensure availability of the equipment
  • Makes recommendation regarding equipment rental or purchase
  • Communicate directly with the operations department to coordinate maintenance and repair work in process areas.
  • Be the point of resolve for any equipment availability conflicts  and where necessary, escalate for final resolution
  • Fleet management
  • Ensure all Maintenance reports are updated and accurate
  • Manage the maintenance budget and costs
  • Assists with development of maintenance policies and procedures
  • Supervise a team of technicians including performance reviews, training and recognition.
  • Providing technical expertise and advice in relation to projects
  • Other related duties 

Minimum Qualifications and Experience/Key Attributes 

  • Tertiary level education as evident by a B. Sc. in Engineering or related discipline
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within a process environment
  • Results oriented, self-starter.
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills
  • Strong Supervisory skill
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Able to manage multiple priorities
