Job Scope:

Produce machined parts by programming, setting up and operating CNC Machines adhering to quality and safety standards.

 Key Duties:

  • Plans machining by studying work orders, engineering plans, materials, specifications, reference planes, locations of surfaces and machining parameters and interprets geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Manage stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders and verifying receipt.
  • Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions including zero and reference points, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation and conditional switches, calculates requirements including basic math, geometry and trigonometry and proves part programs.
  • Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three and four jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops and stock pushers and indicates vices and tramming heads.
  • Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part and sample workpieces while adhering to international standards.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving and cutting including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations, takes measurements, detects malfunctions, troubleshoots processes, adjusts and reprograms controls, sharpens and replaces worn tools in adherence to quality assurance and safety procedures and processes.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements following manufacturer's instructions.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Updates Maximo Work Orders.

 Minimum Requirements:

  • Journeyman Machinist Certification
  • Three (3) year apprenticeship program or a combination of over five (5) years of relevant work experience
  • Advanced Certificate in Hydraulic Bolt Torqueing
  • Certificate in AutoCAD
  • Must be able to read Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID’s)
  • Must be able to read piping specifications
  • Training in Maximo
  • Must possess good verbal and oral communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills, must be a team player
  • Good troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to prioritise work and pay attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
