MAINTENANCE CRAFTSMAN – FACILITIES OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Conducts routine inspections of all UTT plant and equipment;

  • Assists with activities related to the installation, maintenance and upkeep of the facilities including laboratory, plant and workshop equipment;

  • Conduct minor repairs and modifications to the buildings and surroundings, in the nature of masonry, carpentry, joinery, gypsum, painting, electrical, mechanical works etc.

  • Conducts minor general maintenance, repairs, installations and removal of utilities fixtures and equipment, inclusive of electricity, water, sewer and air conditioning.

  • Services facilities service areas such as air handler rooms, plumbing ducts, roof tops, pump rooms, generator rooms (with supervision), Electrical LV rooms (with supervision), lighting fixtures (with supervision) and swimming pools;

  • Identifies parts/consumables and other items required for maintenance activity

  • Makes recommendations for the alleviation of recurring corrective maintenance;

  • Assists in establishing and maintaining accurate records and files relating to plant and equipment;

  • Assists with lifting and moving items or parts of plant and equipment;

  • Maintains currency in areas of academic specialization through research and continuous improvement activities;

  • Assists Maintenance Technicians in the performance of their duties as requested;

  • Performs other related duties as required.

     

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Certification (TVET Level 2) in a craft course - Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering.

  • Minimum three (3) years relevant work experience

     

COMPETENCIES:

  • Knowledge of Industry standards, practices and regulatory requirements.

  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience in Mechanical / Electrical / Maintenance systems.

  • Good teamwork skills

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).

  • Computer literate
