Logistics Co-ordinator

LOGISTICS CO-ORDINATOR

The Logistics Co-ordinator effectively monitors equipment movement and updates daily, status off container activity on a timely basis. They must also be able to provide the Logistics Manager with on time reports to facilitate effective action on any equipment or cargo that may become idle / abandoned at their respective ports.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Must be responsible for the container equipment in their area of control.
  • Adhere to all the provisions of the Container Procedures.
  • They must perform within the performance targets set in each area for turning around containers.
  • Must take urgent and appropriate action for any long stay container which extends beyond the acceptable and free period.
  • Import Full Containers -beyond 30 days- the reporting of such long stay import boxes must be reported in accordance with Claims dept  set procedures for abandoned/unclaimed cargos.
  • Empty Containers – must not extend beyond 30 days and agents must take appropriate container control intervention to return into system or be responsible for equipment loss and their accrued loss.
  • All reporting and necessary data exchange information must be advised and implemented without exception or delay.
  • All logistics personnel must be able to reduce the incidence of repairs and must recover in full any damage sustained.
  • It is imperative that logistics personnel ensure that no containers are left idle or allowed to become accumulated in depots or ports. Containers must be turned around promptly to cover either export demand locally or to be imbalanced to demand areas without delay in accordance with instructions from the Logistics Department.
  • Logistics personnel must also ensure that containers are returned in accordance with the principal’s instructions without delay.
  • To assist with any other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma, with a minimum of five (5) GCE "O" Levels or equivalent.
  • Sound knowledge of "Microsoft" operating software, including "Word", "Excel" and "Outlook".
  • Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to pleasantly and effectively interact with customers at varying levels.
  • Sound knowledge of customer satisfaction skills and techniques. This is normally acquired through a combination of the completion of a recognized Customer Service training programme or two to three years experience in customer relations.
  • Though not a requirement, previous experience in the shipping/transportation industry is considered to be an asset.
  • Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and provide a positive company image to the public.
  • Work requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule on occasion.

Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
