LEGAL OFFICER

Overview & Duties

We are seeking an experienced and qualified candidate to fill a Legal Officer role in our Organisation.

The successful candidate will report to the VP Corporate Affairs & Communications, and will be required to perform the following duties:

• Executing land and property purchase transactions inclusive of preparing Sales Agreements, Transfers and other relevant and or appropriate Legal Instruments
• Reviewing documents to ensure conformance to land specific and other applicable laws
• Providing legal advice to Company Vice Presidents, departments and external clients
• Preparing legal opinions and advising on liability and on appropriate steps to be taken to resolve any dispute
• Advising on the general Law, particularly as it relates to Company matters

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree
• A minimum of 3 years post degree experience working as an attorney with particular training in Conveyancing and Contract Law
• Sound knowledge of the legal environment, practices and laws as they relate to property, ethics and professional jargon
• Ability to practice in Saint Kitts and Nevis or equivalent jurisdiction
• Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Power Point
• Flexibility for travel – a valid US Visa is required
• Highly developed oral and written communication skills
• Good negotiation skills, interpersonal and team skills
• Ability to speak/understand Spanish is a plus
