To provide legal advice and legal representation on behalf of the EMA before the Environmental Commission and other Courts in Trinidad & Tobago.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Represent the Environmental Management Authority (EMA) before the Environmental Commission and other jurisdictions in Trinidad and Tobago.
Provide legal advice/services to other departments of the EMA.
Preparation of briefs for despatch to Attorneys including External Counsel retained by the EMA.
Assist in the drafting and amendment of subsidiary legislation under the Environmental Management Act, Chapter 35:05 and other legislation pertaining to the environment where so directed.
Contributing to mediation proceedings.
Guiding investigations into environmental non-compliance and preparing legal briefs and opinions.
Training of Environmental Police Officers and Inspectors.
Attend meetings on matters related to work undertaken within the Legal Services Department and the EMA.
To perform related work as may be required.
KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of five (5) years experience as a practising Attorney-at-Law in Trinidad & Tobago.
Training as evidenced by the possession of the Legal Education Certificate or its equivalent from an accredited institution and evidence of having been admitted to practice as an Attorney-at-Law in Trinidad & Tobago.
Knowledge of Environmental Law.
Experience supervising a small group of professionals
Must be computer literate.
