JOB SUMMARY:
To support the judicial officers of the Supreme Court in the areas of legal research, drafting, in the court room and to overall assist the judicial officers in the performance of their legal functions.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Research legal issues
2) Draft judgments and legal opinion
3) Preparing legal briefs
4) Editing and proof reading orders and opinions of the judicial officer
5) Checking authorities and statutes cited in briefs and conducting independent legal research
6) Ensuring that all subscriptions to legal resources are kept current
7) Ensuring that the law library of the court is properly updated with current legal materials.
8) Corresponding on behalf of the judicial officer with other court officials, personnel and with Attorneys-at-law
9) Any other duties as assigned by the Judicial Officer
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor’s of Law Degree;
A Legal Education Certificate or equivalent;
Evidence of having been admitted to practice as an Attorney-at-law in the courts of the Commonwealth Caribbean;
At least 3 years’ hands on legal experience;
Superior legal research skills;
Knowledge of the Courts;
Good writing skills;
Appropriate word processing skills.
SALARY:
GRADE: $ 51,147.50 plus allowances
