UNDERWRITING MANAGER
Results oriented, with more than 10 years’ experience in the insurance industry. Demonstrated success in implementing change processes and building operations which have consistently produced growth, reduced operating costs and increased profitability. Strong leadership ability, with a proven capacity to build effective teams and motivate staff to accomplish the desired goals.

Lead and develop a team of underwriters to evaluate new and renewal business through authorized application of modern underwriting principles.

Customer Service Representatives
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Successfully leads and directs the Underwriters to assure that the Company’s initiatives for profitability, production goals, and new product development are being accomplished.
- Responsible for account level rate development for both New Business and Renewals
- Evaluates claims experience and analyzes total case profitability.
- Develops and monitors account earning plans to achieve growth and profitability.
- Develops strategic recommendations related to market competition, products and pricing.
- Develops superior working relationships with internal and external partners, to successfully promote achievement of mutual operating goals.
- Assists with customer presentations.
- Conducts customer negotiations with other underwriting areas on assigned book of business.
- Examines documents and evaluates exposures by analyzing documentation from various sources (e.g. applications, financial statements, loss runs, inspection reports, internet research, etc.) and makes underwriting decisions within defined authority.
- Conducts quality reviews to evaluate proper file documentation and ensures that regulatory requirements are being met.
- Prioritizes and determines workflow processes and methods to be utilized by the Underwriters and monitor their activities to ensure production, profitability and service standards are met.
- Assists in establishing the department’s annual budget.
- Prepares departmental reports as well as formal communication.
- Performs other related duties as assigned and necessary for the development of the company.

Works closely and maintains a high level of communication with all employees, clients, vendors of the company
MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Business Administration or related discipline.
- Minimum of five years of management experience in an environment which involves the successful management of people,
- Qualifications such as ACII or CPCU would be an asset.
SKILL SETS/QUALIFICATION REQUIRMENTS
In depth knowledge of underwriting administration processes and procedures
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
- Demonstrates proficiency with computer software including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook and other applications
- Must be assertive and have strong analytical, strategic thinking and planning decision making, problem-solving, organizational, and teamwork skills
- Demonstrated people management experience, the ability to lead and manage a team
- Technical Underwriting experience with a good understanding of insurance, both locally and in the regional Market
- Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements
- Ability to manage concurrent tasks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and with strict deadlines
- Outstanding interpersonal skills particularly in customer relationship building.
- Excellent public speaking skills with the ability to plan, organize, develop and deliver effective presentations to a targeted audience
