Executive Search - General Manager

Our Client, Accra Beach Hotel Limited is seeking to recruit a General Manager. He/she will report to the Board of Directors and will provide day-to-day leadership and direction by maximizing financial returns, driving development of people, creating and maintaining a unique guest experience, executing on brand standards, and building awareness of the wider community.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Hotel/Hospitality Management, Business Management or related field and at least 8-10 years experience in the hotel or hospitality industry, with at least three (3) years in a senior management role; expereince working in the hotel industry internationally would be an asset.

or

Twenty (20) years progressive hotel or hospitality industry experience, spanning various departments and which includes at least 10 years in a senior management role; exposure working in the hotel industry internationally would be an asset.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret financial data and sales and marketing strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads the management team and advises the Board of Directors on the development of the Hotel's strategic plan.
  • Works in collaboration with the Board of Directors, staff and other public and private sector organizations to identify new projects that would further the strategic goals of the Hotel.
  • Ensures preparation of an annual plan for the operation of the Hotel's facilities and services, including setting of annual and quarterly targets.
  • Ensures that performance in meeting standards and targets is monitored and evaluated on a regualr basis and provides support, as needed to staff. Approves and oversees implementation of marketing programmes aimed at improving the profitability of the Hotel's operations.
  • Ensures that proper accounting procedures are in place.
  • Monitors and analyzes monthly revenues, expenses and cash flow.
  • Ensures that systems for proper human resource management are in place and being implemented appropriately.
  • Demonstrates brand citizenship by maintaining compliance with all required brand standards, behaviours, hallmarks and license agreement mandates.
  • Ensures that there are effective means of communication with the Hotel's partners and with the vaiorus communities of Barbados.
  • Assists with recruitment and selection of management level staff.
