JamGuy Food Processors Limited is a manufacturer of processed foods. It was incorporated in the year 1991 under the leadership of Christopher Collman. It is a family-owned organization that has a hierarchical structure with a Chief Executive Officer/Chairman, Managing Director, and Director of Marketing & Sales. In addition, JamGuy has employed the services of a Financial Controller, Quality Control Manager, Production/Operations Manager, Purchasing Manager, and an Office Administrator to complete this structure. Overall, the company employs a workforce of fifty four (54) employees
The name JamGuy was derived from the combination of nationalities of the current owners (Jamaican) and the previous one (Guyanese).
Initially, JamGuy Foods started with the manufacturing of a single product, namely ‘Soya Sauce’ and two employees. To date, JamGuy’s product line has expanded exponentially, to include Tomato Ketchup, Barbeque Sauce, Food Browning, Distilled Vinegar, Vanilla, Crushed Pepper Sauce, Hot Pepper Sauce, Red & Gungo Peas in Coconut Milk, Steak Sauce, Jerk Sauce, Jerk Seasoning, Irish Moss, Syrup, Bottled Juices & Drinks, Boxed Juices & Drinks, Bagged Juices & Drinks, and Roots Drink.
During the initial six years business, JamGuy did contract packaging for major distributors such as Grace Kennedy and Company, Industrial Sales, Mussons (Ja.) Limited, T. Geddes Grant, Facey Commodity, Chas E. Ramson and P.A. Benjamin.
JamGuy has a wide customer base that spreads across the entire island of Jamaica. Its products are distributed using the wholesale and retail channels locally, while in the New York Tri-States, the products are being distributed via an exclusive distributor. The company’s method of advertising and promotion is through the electronic media (radio and television), print media (newspaper and magazines), in store promotion and word of mouth. In addition, there is a keen sense of awareness as it relates to the quality and packaging of products distributed by JamGuy. as well as how the products are packaged and also having a competitive pricing structure
