Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conducts internal audit review for reliability and integrity of management information for decision making, compliance with relevant laws and regulations, policies and procedures and effectiveness and efficiency of various University operations in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards and guidelines;
• Evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, their completeness and impact on the University environment;
• Works with the Internal Auditor in the conduct of financial, operational, systems and procedures audits;
• Identifies, develops and documents audit issues and recommendations using independent and objective judgement relating to the area reviewed;
• Participates in the development of internal audit programmes relating to the University’s operations;
• Develops and maintains working papers in support of the audit issues identified;
• Performs other related duties, as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• ACCA Level II OR Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Management or related field of study

• Minimum of 5 years working knowledge with at least 3 years’ experience in auditing

  COMPETENCIES

• Familiarity with accounting and auditing computerized applications e.g. Audit Command Language (ACL);

• Understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards and Auditing Standards.

• Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills

• Strong presentation and report writing skills;

• Ability to multitask, meet deadlines and adapt to changes quickly;

• Demonstrate integrity, values, principles and work ethics;

• Proficient in the use of MS Suite of programs e.g. excel, word, PowerPoint and access
