Reporting to the Project Coordinator for the Jamaica Venture Capital Programme (JVCP), the position is accountable for the execution of strategies aimed at stimulating investments in the Jamaican private equity (PE) and venture capital (VC) markets.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, organize and execute project activities relating to investing in VC and PE funds by the DBJ and other investor partners;
  • Monitor and supervise the Bank’s  investment portfolio in the VC and PE markets, including undertaking financial and risk management analyses and preparation of financial and management reports;
  • Coordinate activities aimed at networking, building and sustaining DBJ’s relationships with local and international fund managers, investors and advisors;
  • Undertake analysis and due diligence of prospective fund managers;
  • Coordinate activities relating to the establishment of a VC/PE database and the benchmarking of the Jamaican industry by international agencies;

The required minimum qualifications, experiences and skills are:

  • Master’s in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field;
  • Legal training would be an asset;
  • Experience in local or international banking or capital markets, including sound knowledge of financial analysis, investments and business modelling;
  • Knowledge of venture capital and private equity markets (experience as a venture capitalist would be an asset);
  • Experience in business development and interacting with investors, including preparation of proposals and undertaking presentations;
  • Project Management Certification is desirable;
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully network and to effectively interact with people of all socio-economic backgrounds;
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Projects;

Seven (7) years post qualifications corporate industry experience with at least two (2) at a senior level in the financial sector.
