Generally responsible for preparation and documentation of import and export logistics.
Ensure that all import & export logistics challenges are successfully achieved.
Manage all aspects of import & export operations in accordance with customs guidelines.
Select the best delivery options at the most competitive prices.
Receiving, issuing, handling, and accounting for inventory stock
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Documentation:
Record and maintain all relevant tracking files/reports on a daily basis.
Prepare and submit requisition for Broker's invoice and Export documentation.
Processing Customs entries and support bills.
Assists in preparation of reports and analyses for key stakeholders.
Provides support to internal and external audit teams to provide requested documentation.
Supports manager decision making with accurate information as needed.
Schedule the pickup of items which are transported via courier services.
Liaison:
Liaise internally with Finance department to facilitate the disbursement of URGENT cheques
Liaise with Customs Brokers and Couriers on a daily basis.
Attend external meetings with shipping companies to arrange trans-shipment routes.
Review, negotiate and approve contracts with freight forwarders for imports and exports.
Regulatory Compliance:
Maintain and share with colleagues as appropriate, personal knowledge of all relevant import law and procedures, tariffs and duties, licenses and restrictions.
Ensure compliance with all relevant import/export regulations related to inventory reporting and to ensure proper accounting principles are being followed.
Accounting:
Reviews inventory position daily and weekly against outstanding orders and forecasts and takes action to expedite inbound shipments to meet demands.
Verifies accuracy of physical inventory when needed.
Track shipments from pickup through delivery so that accurate, up-to-date information can be provided regarding any shipment.
Maintain thorough and accurate documentation related to Inventory Accounting processes and procedures.
Academic qualifications and experience required for job:
Diploma in Business Administration or Logistics Qualification
Three years' import and export experience
Previous work related experience of Jamaican exports would be preferable
Certification in Customs Regulations and Documentation is an asset
Functional Skills:
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Project Management skills
Flexible and able to adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of the fundamentals of Customs processes
