Job Summary
Reporting to the I&E Superintendent, the I&E Technician II is generally accountable for carrying out the installation, maintenance, calibration and repair of plant electrical, electronics, DCS, computers, measurement and instrumentation equipment in accordance with required codes and standards and the company's guidelines. The position is accountable for minor project implementation, major project equipment installation and commissioning. These activities are expected to be conducted safely, cost-effectively and reliably and must be delivered in a manner that consistently adds value to PPGPL's overall business process.
Dimensions
The availability and reliability of electrical, electronics, control system, computers, measurement and instrument equipment are key requirements in ensuring the continuity of the business process at Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited. Under the general direction of the I&E Superintendent and the specific guidance of the I&E Technician III, the I&E Technician II performs the routine maintenance of and undertakes actual maintenance, calibration and repairs to the plant's instrumentation, electronic, control system, measurement and electrical equipment; assists in control system configuration and programme changes. The position must evidence intermediate technical skills and experience in diagnosing equipment malfunction and in performing routine preventative and predictive maintenance checks, inspections, servicing, overhauling and repairs to the plant's electrical, electronic, control system, measurement and instrumentation equipment. The position interfaces internally with departmental technicians and supervisors and externally with customers, suppliers and engineering support staff. The position is constrained by cost, spare parts availability, safety and environmental considerations and in order to meet pre-planned product-delivery commitments, the position must consistently strive to minimise any plant downtime that may be occasioned by electrical or instrumentation equipment failure.
The position of I&E Technician has access to technical direction and support at the level of the I&E Technician III and the I&E Superintendent, is bound by established maintenance procedures and schedules and has clear performance expectations. The position of I&E Technician has no financial accountability limit.

Nature & Scope
The position of I&E Technician II essentially conducts the safe and cost-effective maintenance and repair of electrical, electronics, control system, measurement and instrumentation equipment in accordance with specific codes and standards and Company's guidelines. The position diagnoses equipment malfunction; develops procedures and risk assessments; service, overhaul, repair and replace equipment or equipment components; performs calibrations of plant instrument and electrical equipment following all required standards and specifications; performs preventative and predictive maintenance checks and inspections to electrical and instrumentation equipment; works with contract personnel to carry out specified I&E maintenance activities and contract project activities; assists in the development of plans and systems for the routine and preventative maintenance of I&E equipment; ensures the safekeeping and serviceability of tools and equipment used and prepares I&E maintenance work reports as required; performs control system configuration and program changes and provides system administration support; assists in the process function in the safe restoration of the plant to normalcy during shutdowns, start-ups and upset conditions. The position is also required to work closely with the planners and scheduler(s) to plan, schedule and execute preventative and corrective maintenance of plant I&E equipment.

Job Specifications
Minimum acceptable academic qualifications
UTT or NEC National Engineering Technician Diploma in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
AND
Minimum number of years of relevant experience
Three (3) years’ experience in Electrical/Electronics maintenance in a petroleum or petrochemical processing industry.
