Our client in the Manufacturing and distrubution Sector is seeking to fill the position of ITManager.

 

IT Manager

Duties and responsibilities

  1. Preserves assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures.
  2. Evaluating user needs and system functionality and ensuring that ICT facilities meet these needs;
  3. Verifies application results by conducting system audits
  4. Ensuring the smooth running of all ICT systems, including anti-virus software, print services and email provision;
  5. Ensuring that software licensing laws are adhered to and the security of data from internal and external attack;
  6. Providing secure access to the network for remote users;
  7. Monitoring performance and managing parameters to provide fast query responses to front-end users;
  8. Considering both back-end organisation of data and front-end accessibility for end-users;
  9. Managing crisis situations, which may involve complex technical hardware or software problem
  10. Providing users with appropriate support and advice;
  11. Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective action.
  12. Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.
  13. Completes projects by coordinating resources and timetables with user departments
  14. Directs technological research by studying organization goals, strategies, practices, and user projects.
  15. Maintains organization's effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies.
  16. Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe and secure work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.
  17. Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  18. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
  19. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

 

Education and experience required

  1. Five (5) years’ experience in the management of Information Technology/Systems preferably within a manufacturing environment
  2. An Information Technology degree from a recognised institution
  3. At least three (3) years’ experience in the management of the accounting software Great Plains and Electronic Data Interchange would be an asset 
  4. Experience in Network Administration
  5. Any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills and abilities
  6. Attention to detail and accuracy
  7. Planning and organizing
  8. Problem analysing and problem solving skills
  9. Scheduling and monitoring
  10. Supervisory skills
  11. Strong communication skills
