JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Human Resource Manager

Reporting Line: General Manager

PURPOSES 

Formulation and alignment of Human Resource policies, procedures and practices with the company’s evolving strategy and strategic objectives.  Overall responsibility for the Management of the Human Resource portfolio; including organizational transformation, personnel administration and industrial relations.  Ensuring and maintaining a healthy and stable industrial relations climate for the achievement of the greater productivity.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Formulation of HR Policies, Procedures and Practices
  • Ensure a stable and conclusive work environment without strikes and work stoppages
  • Responsible for handling all industrial relations matters including matters at the Ministry of Labor and Industrial Court
  • Responsible for overall discipline and disciplinary action in the company and ensures conformance with the Industrial Relations Act.
  • Responsible for the co-ordination of all civil matters brought against the company and attend all High Court matters along with the respective attorneys.
  • Must ensure a healthy and productive working relationship with the community and take the lead in resolving any differences in consultation with General Manager
  • Directly responsible for all hiring in the company and ensure full compliance with the company hiring policy.
  • Responsible for sourcing perspective candidates via employment agencies, newspaper advertisements, head hunting and resumes.
  • Responsible for developing all employment contracts and ensures that contracts are handed out in a timely basis.
  • Overall responsibility for the maintenance upgrading and safe keeping of confidential documents and personal files.
  • Ensures that a proper HR package is in place for storage and retrieval of critical information
  • Ensure that competency assessments are conducted bi-annually throughout the company and determine with Manager the relevant course of action for improvement if necessary.
  • Overall responsibility for training and development.
  • Function as an advisory to management on HR and IR issues
  • Take major initiative in important company functions and ensuring widespread employee involvement in the planning and execution of such functions.
  • Responsible of the overall day to day administration of the HR and IR functions
  • Ensure that a proper Job Evaluation and salary administration plan is followed by the company without creating salary anomalies
  • Responsible for the overall administration of the company’s Group Health Plan and Pension Plan.
  • To ensure proper job descriptions are created for all jobs.
  • To ensure succession planning and promotion within the company.
  • To establish employee recognition and reward programs.
  • Has the responsibility to meet and treat with employees on work related and personal matters on a daily basis
  • Responsible for meeting with operations on a daily basis (onshore/offshore) to determine manpower needs
  • Attend to scheduled and un scheduled meetings.
  • Provide reports to the General Manager
  • Prepare work permits and Visa application for relevant employees

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. BA/Bsc in Management or related field.
  2. Post graduate qualification.
  3. 5-7 years experience as a Senior Human Resource practioner.
  4. Familiar with policies practices and procedures governing Human Resources Management.
  5. Sound working knowledge of rules, regulations and laws governing good Industrial Relations practices.
  6. Excellent communication skills.
