Job Purpose: The Human Resource Manager is responsible for directing, managing and implementing strategies and actions to achieve the appropriate Manpower Requirements, Staff Development levels, and Employee’s Welfare, Staff Benefits and Industrial Relations objectives of the Company.

Job Purpose: The Human Resource Manager is responsible for directing, managing and implementing strategies and actions to achieve the appropriate Manpower Requirements, Staff Development levels, and Employee’s Welfare, Staff Benefits and Industrial Relations objectives of the Company.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  1. Develops the HR Strategies and contributes to the Company’s long term Strategic Plan   
  2. Collaborates with all departments in the preparation of the annual HR departments operating plan and Budget aligned to the company’s Strategic Plan
  3. Assists in organization development and advise management on HR related issues affecting same
  4. Identifies policy deficiencies and aid in drafting and reviewing policy under the direction of the General Manager
  5. Manages the HR budget and the administration of employee compensation and benefits
  6. Develops, implements and manages the performance management and appraisal system throughout the company and ensure continuous evaluation of performance against objectives
  7. Ensures that the Company is properly resourced with the optimal level, mission oriented human capital required to achieve its objectives
  8. Plans, develops, implements and manages HRD activities that foster career guidance, training, development and education
  9. Develops and implements succession planning, EAP, Human Resource Management Information systems and other systems and programs that enable HRM efficiency
  10. Manages the implementation and administration of policies and procedures
  11. Manages the day to day operations of the Human Resource function at the Company
  12. Submits monthly reports to the General Manager. Conduct quarterly reviews of HR plan and submit quarterly reports to General Manager
  13. Be an active part of negotiations between the union and the company
  14. Acts as conciliator and mediator in employee work related disputes
  15. Any other related duties as may be assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.  

Qualfications and Experience:

  • Masters in Human Resources/MBA
  • First Degree in HR Management or Management studies with concentration in HR
  • Minimum seven (7) years post graduate Human Resource experience in a unionized environment with at least three (3) years at a senior level.
  • Working knowledge of HRMIS (Human Resource Management Information Systems)
  • Basic knowledge of environmental and waste management issues an asset
  • In-depth knowledge of Trinidad and Tobago labour laws
  • Working knowledge of Public Administration procedures
  • Any equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
