Summary
The Heavy T driver is required to drive a variety of vehicles in order to get their job done. They may be required to make deliveries of documents, packages, and/or supplies on a deadline, transport waste, and/or transport other materials from one place to another.  They do not only drive trucks; they are also required to perform other duties that go with the position. This may include loading and unloading trucks, performing inspections and preventative maintenance and, keeping the exterior and interior of their vehicles clean and tidy.  Apart from physical work, the truck driver is also required to plan and chart routes because they need to know where to go before they set out in order to save time.  Because they are required to maintain communication between with the base and/or supervisor, communication is a key aspect of the position.  They maintain truck logs and obtain customers’ signatures on payment documents.  This position may also be required to take payments from customers.  The position may require driving for long hours.  In the event of an accident, the driver is expected to fix minor problems or manage issues related to damages.  Finally, driving in challenging conditions is not easy so they need to be extra vigilant in order to avoid disasters on the road.
The Heavy T Driver may also be required to transport time-sensitive, vital supplies or those requiring special handling, such as confidential media material.

15) Blocks and ties rope around items to secure cargo for transport
16) Cleans, inspects, and services vehicle
17) Operates equipment on vehicle to load, unload, or disperse cargo or materials
18) Obtains customer signature or collects payment for goods delivered and delivery charges
19) Assists in loading and unloading truck manually

Duties
1) Operate and drive different types of vehicles to transport documents, goods and materials from one location to the other
2) Plan trip logistics and obtained necessary documents to transport goods
3) Pre-check stock before delivery to ensure accuracy
4) Load and unload cargo.  In some instances, driver may be required to go on a delivery without a Factory Assistant as in cases where the customer uses a forklift to off-load goods
5) Ensure cargo is secured properly compliant with safety requirements
6) Follow safety procedures for transporting goods
7) Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection of vehicles
8) Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel expenditure
9) Manage documents for collection and delivery
10) Maintain log books
11) Communicate with base, other drivers and customers
12) Report any incidents to base
13) Follow all appropriate traffic laws
14) Report serious mechanical problems to the manager
15) Keep truck and associated equipment tidy and in good working order
16) Effectively cover and protect each delivery regardless of the weather condition and at all times
17) Weekly cleaning of vehicle
18) Do preventative check and sign the vehicle maintenance form every Monday
19) If there are no deliveries, or if the truck is not functioning, you may be required to assist in another department as and when requested by your supervisor
20) Wear appropriate headgear or other gear in order to conform to each customer’s operational requirements and standards
21) As a representative of Print-a-Pak Limited, you are required to dress appropriately at all times
22) To deliver excellent customer service on delivering goods
23) To follow customer guidelines for the delivery of goods
24) Contact your supervisor via telephone while on-site prior to returning with any goods
25) To ensure that all operational documentation (i.e. electronic and/or manual) are accurately completed and submitted in a timely manner as required by management
26) To ensure that all quality control is maintained throughout the job and accurate documentation (i.e. electronic and/or manual) is completed and submitted in a timely manner as required by management
27) Unload and sort items collected along delivery routes
28) Receive messages or materials to be delivered, and information on recipients, such as names, addresses, telephone numbers, and delivery instructions, communicated via telephone, two-way radio, or in person
29) Obtain signatures and payments, or arrange for recipients to make payments
30) Record information, such as items received and delivered and recipients' responses to messages
31) Other tasks that may be assigned by management from time to time
Reporting
This position reports to the School Feeding Coordinator or Finishing Supervisor

Education and Experience
1) A commitment to maintain the highest standard of work and the efficient delivery of same
2) High school diploma or equivalent
3) Tertiary education with a mechanical/technical emphasis would be a plus, but is not absolutely essential
4) Duly authorized Heavy T License issued in Trinidad and Tobago
5) Punctual and regular in attendance
6) Police Certificate of Good Character
7) Mechanical background or aptitude
8) Ability to lift and handle up to 50 pounds
9) Ability to read and follow instructions on an order
10) Ability to do basic math
