HSSE Advisor - The successful candidate will be required to assist the HSSEQ department with the development, maintenance and administrating of a risk based management system.

Job Summary: - HSSE Advisor

TOSL Engineering Limited is seeking a skilled and passionate candidate to fill the position of HSSE Advisor within its HR/HSSEQ division. The successful candidate will be required to assist the HSSEQ department with the development, maintenance and administrating of a risk based management system aimed at reducing accidents, injuries, occupational diseases and environmental harm, thereby creating a safe place of work as far as is reasonably practical.

 

Principal HSSE Duties:

  1. Maintains, ensures compliance, updates and revises the current HSSE system in accordance with ISO 14001:2004, STOW, the OSHA Act and any other legislation, as well as ensuring its effectiveness in relation to our environment
  2. Responds to employee queries regarding HSSE issues by applying knowledge and encouraging good HSSE practice at all TOSL workshops/sites/locations
  3. Provides advice, information and instruction on HSSE issues to internal divisions / departments as necessary
  4. Provides support in the development and execution of Companywide HSSE Plans / Programmes including Strategic HSSE Plan, HSSE Communications Programme, HSSE KPI’s, etc.
  5. Maintains, files and updates all relevant HSSE data including HSSE Logs, Statistical data, Incident Reports, etc – both hard and electronic copy
  6. Assists with the investigation, reporting and analysis of incidents with particular focus on Root Cause and Human Factor Analysis
  7. Inducts all new employees in TOSL’s HSSE Policies and Procedures
  8. Provides relevant HSSE training to staff where required
  9. Conducts Audits and Inspections of all assigned TOSL Workshops and Buildings
  10. Attends toolbox talks periodically at all assigned TOSL Workshops and Buildings
  11. Works closely and collaboratively with employees to ensure daily communication and motivation regarding HSSE compliance and performance at all assigned TOSL Workshops and Buildings
  12. Supports ‘Lessons Learnt’ program through the analysis and dissemination of critical information

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge

Good working knowledge of General Industry and Oil & Gas operations including, oil & gas processing, civil works, scaffolding, chemical handling, wire rope manufacture, electrical, etc.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the Energy Service operations in a similar HSSE Position
  • Experience in HSSE Auditing and the preparation of audits reports
  • Must be familiar with  STOW requirements and certification
  • Knowledge of OSH Act 2004 as amended in
    2006

  • NEBOSH General Certificate
  • A degree in Occupational Health and Safety will be considered an asset
  • OSHA 30 Hour General Industry
  • Risk Assessment Certificate
  • PLEA Passport
  • Behavioural Based Safety Training and/or Safety Intervention will be an asset
