GROUNDS POOL & BEACH MANAGER

PRIMARY DUTIES: Assume management landscaping projects; designing landscape structure and features; preparing estimates, quotes and tenders; negotiating with vendors/clients. Take full responsibility for the management and supervision of grounds and pool and beach staff, providing on-going training and development. 

Assist with the management and maintenance of waste water treatment plant with daily inspection of irrigation pump stations; Supervision of chemical applications; Maintenance of application records of all pesticides and fertilizers used. Instructs workers in taking care of nursery, planting of flowers, transplanting and pruning of trees and shrubbery. Takes full supervision with operation and maintenance of the pool and beach as well as to assist the Chief Engineer as may be directed.                                                                            

TYPICAL DUTIES:                                                                

1. Plans, schedules, assigns, and supervises the landscaping, seeding, weeding, cultivating, pool and beach maintenance and general care of the grounds.       
2. Plans and supervises cultivation, pruning, spraying, and transplanting of a large variety of shrubs and trees.
3. Prepares working sketches for the development, improvement, or expansion of landscaped areas.
4. Requisitions and distributes materials and equipment for grounds maintenance work.
5. Supervises all landscaping and pool/beach personnel; duties include planning, scheduling, organizing and directing work, training personnel, and recommending applicants for employment.
6. Teaches and enforces safety regulations.             
7. Monitors jobs to ensure quality and compliance with job standards.
8. Maintains records of job performed, departmental hours worked by employees.
9. Orders tools, equipment and supplies.                 

10. Coordinates activities with other trades areas and outside contractors.

11. Maintain and take full responsibility of inventory tools                                                              

GENERAL:

Knows location of all shop equipment and tools with hands on approach to;     

1. Start, run and stop maintenance equipment.        
2. Works with sprinkler system.                            
3. Works on ladders, scaffolds and in pits.
4. Must be able to manually lift 50lbs on an intermittent basis. Heavier loads will be handled   using other methods.
5. Is familiar with, understands, and uses safe practices and wears all required safety equipment.
6. Attend and participate in management meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovation in the fields of landscape maintenance, construction and facility maintenance.
7. Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Engineer or General Manager.                                                                      

QUALIFICATIONS:                                                              

   1. Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, landscaping, or a related field.

   2. Equivalent combination of education, training and experience in landscaping trade.

   3. Three years experience or more.
