invites applications from suitably qualified career-oriented individuals for appointment to the position of Fixed Asset & Reliability Superintendent
The successful candidate will have primary responsibility to coordinate and direct maintenance activities and personnel to enable the timely, efficient and reliable repair of machinery, equipment and fixed plant infrastructure to support processing, railing and shipping activities and the achievement of maintenance performance indices.
Main Responsibilities include:
Delegate and direct all preventive, routine and scheduled mechanical maintenance activities to ensure the achievement of agreed time lines, required technical quality, compliance with company procedures and relevant maintenance standards. Review and inspect work performed.
Manage and execute major maintenance projects.
Measure and report on the progress of mechanical maintenance projects to ensure agreed schedules and budgets are being met.
Recommend, develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance policies, procedures, systems and methods.
Develop and implement a condition monitoring program for increased reliability of plant equipment.
Assist with annual operational and capital budget preparation. Monitor and report on department spending. Manage, develop and recommend systems and approaches to reduce maintenance costs. Ensure compliance with approved budget.
Visit locations of emergency breakdown of equipment, as necessary, assess the nature of the breakdown and determines the most cost effective, time and production oriented solution to restoring the equipment to sound working condition. Conduct Root-Cause-Failure Analyses with solutions to minimize/eliminate recurring failures.
Direct and provide visible support to the company’s safety programme. Ensure that all maintenance operations are administered in compliance with safety operating policies and procedures. Monitor the timely completion of administrative safety reports.
Achievement of specific KPI’s for equipment availability and reliability.
Required Competencies:
Detailed knowledge of mechanical systems, control and optimization
Well-developed troubleshooting and analytical skills – ability to devise repair options.
Knowledge of Maintenance Management Systems
Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical journals, financial reports
Knowledge of engineering standards in particular statutory and mandatory tests and inspection requirements
Project management skills
Advanced proficiency with PC based software applications including MS Project, Excel and Access - ability to create presentations, charts, graphs and spreadsheets.
Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills - communicate in a clear and unambiguous fashion
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
At least eight (8) years cumulative hands on experience in planning, controlling and leading the maintenance and repairs activities of large well-equipped mechanical maintenance facility.
Four (4) years supervisory experience
