Who are we?
We are part of the Siteserv Group of companies which also includes, Roankabin, DSL and Eventserve. We employ just fewer than 4,000 professional and technical staff globally. Our Sierra arm is currently partnering with Digicel to design and build fibre telecommunications networks throughout the Caribbean islands. This is a massive project and we have already employed over 240 expatriate staff as well as a huge number of local direct and indirect staff.
Summary of Role:
Sierra's Field Engineer (Mobile Communications) is responsible for carrying out service, maintenance and repair work on the mobile communications network, infrastructure and facilities including tower equipment associated with the mobile network as allocated by Sierra back office.
What you will be responsible for?
- Service/maintain/repair telecoms equipment including mast equipment to necessary standards
- Service/ maintain/repair electrical systems and equipment including mast equipment, including earthing installations including generator sets to necessary standards (mast climbing included)
- Service/ maintain/repair air conditioning systems and equipment to necessary standards
- Service/ maintain/repair site facilities including buildings, structures, fencing, including mast equipment and other elements of the site
- Maintain and control vegetation and pest management on site as directed by the Team Manager
- Fuel generators as part of the preventative maintenance program and as directed as part of the Sierra fuel management program
- Operate and use the relevant Work Management Systems provided to assist in managing and recording work activities, asset registers and inventory controls
- Attend and take heed of all Toolbox Talks, training and other information provided by and/or arranged by Sierra
- Adhere to all Health and Safety, Environmental & Quality policies and procedures
- Use and maintain in good order all tools and equipment including vehicles, test instruments and personal protective equipment in accordance with policies and procedures
- Maintain the highest performance levels according to industry best practice and governing regulations
- Report all escalations directly to the Team Manager
What Knowledge, Skills & Abilities do you require?
- Full Telecoms or Electronics accreditation essential
- Minimum 5 years' experience in mobile network service, maintenance and repair work
- Ability to analyse and diagnose faults on mobile communication, electrical and air conditioning systems
- Exceptional customer focus with a positive, can-do attitude
- Good literacy, numeric and IT skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work on own initiative and act independently whilst being able to work successfully as part of a team
- Full, clean driving licence
- Flexibility in line with business requirements
- Ability to represent the company in a professional manner at all times
