Factory Assistant
Summary
The Factory Assistant position is a labor intensive one. While this person may be asked to perform in a variety of roles, as stated above, at varying times
during the day, they will never be asked to perform in more than one role at a time. However, the Factory Assistant may also be asked to perform only one
role as well. As a Factory Assistant, you may be required to assist the Warehouse Coordinator with warehouse duties such as the picking, packing, revision,
stocking, inventory, and distribution of goods. They may also be required to assist with loading transport, bulk, and route trucks. Take note that each type
of loading requires strict attention to order accuracy with respect to loading outgoing trucks and unloading incoming trucks. He/She works from order sheets
to build loads using a forklift and/or pallet jack. Even further, they may be required to wrap, pack, and/or box up items in an appropriate manner. He/She also
maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Position may be required to work across a wide variety of weather conditions. Position requires lifting
a very high volume of cases of product per day up to 50 pounds per case repeatedly during a long work period. It requires constant standing, walking, bending,
twisting, squatting reaching and grasping as product is moved.
Job Knowledge
1) Experience working directly with the customers
2) Must be able to use a pallet jack
3) Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers
Duties
1) Load and unload materials on to and off of a truck
2) Assist in securing the delivery load
3) Perform inventory of all products
4) Assist in delivering materials on time
5) Wrap pallet when pallet/load is finished
6) Stage pallet and/or load into truck when ready
7) Complete partial pallets and put away mixed pallets
8) Picking, packing, revision, stocking, inventory, and distribution of goods
9) Maintain proper housekeeping standards in work area
10) Regular, reliable, predictable attendance
11) Follows safety rules
12) Follow all product safety guidelines
13) Be able to effectively communicate with customers and team members
14) To assist in packing and unpacking of stock
15) Wrapping and labeling of stock.
16) Ensure that packages are clearly marked with the correct information
17) Meets all standards in quality, production, waste and attendance
18) Other tasks that may be assigned by management from time to time
Reporting
This position reports either to a supervisor, driver, or manager
Education and Experience
1) A commitment to maintain the highest standard of work and the efficient delivery of same
2) Police Certificate of Good Character
3) High school diploma or equivalent
4) Tertiary education with a mechanical/technical emphasis would be a plus, but is not absolutely essential
5) Experience in the Printing and Packaging industry would be a plus, but is not absolutely essential
6) Experience working with building materials
7) Experience operating a forklift and pallet jack
8) Ability to lift and handle up to 50 pounds
9) Ability to read and follow instructions on an order
10) Ability to use a computer
