Facilities Technician

General Accountability

Reporting to the Facilities Superintendent, the Facilities Technician is generally accountable for assisting in the maintenance, refurbishing and security of the real estate, assets and personnel of the College as well as the Occupational Safety and Health functions of the College.

Nature & Scope

The availability of the infrastructure at the College is a critical factor in facilitating its core business.  Infrastructure management and protection are therefore key requirements for the effective operations of the College. The position must assist in implementing preventative maintenance plans and programmes to enhance the longevity of existing facilities. The position, in addition, assists the Facilities Superintendent in monitoring security function at the College as well as implementing and maintaining of all safety and health initiatives at the College.

Specific Accountabilities

• Prepares operational practices or procedures in accordance with the strategic administrative policy direction.
• Assists in the implementation of the policies, programmes and strategies related to property security and maintenance, occupational safety and health and stakeholders’ emergency and evacuation procedures.
• Develops programmes of preventative and predictive maintenance for all facilities and physical assets under the purview of the College.
• Undertakes initial trouble shooting of problems experienced with College facilities namely, buildings, grounds, vehicles, equipment, machinery, fixtures and fittings.
• Monitors the maintenance and repair work performed by maintenance crews to College facilities.
• Conducts campus and facility inspections of the College compound and facilities and submits reports.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or accreditation in Facilities Management and Occupational Safety, Health and Environment
• Five (5) GCE/CXC General O’level passes including English Language and Mathematics
• At least five (5) years relevant experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Certificate in Project Management will be an asset.

Specific Knowledge and Skills

• Sound knowledge of building maintenance policies, practices and procedures

• Sound knowledge and familiarity with the T&T OSHA Act 2004 and its practices

• Good knowledge proficient in facility management software
• Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience in implementing HSE initiatives
• Excellent customer relations/service

• Excellent interpersonal skills

Salary:    TT$6,500.00 - TT$7,500.00 per month
