Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in one of the following roles:
• Facilities maintenance
• Building construction
• Welding/ fabrication
•  Must show evidence of the completion of a formal course in ARC welding. Must be capable of:
• Understanding basic engineering drawings to determine design requirements and dimensions
• Producing simple sketches to demonstrate function and dimensions
• Determining appropriate material requirements for fabrication work
• Using cutting and grinding equipment for component preparation. (Oxy-acetylene cutting, chop saw, hand-held grinder.)
• Using a 225A AC/DC arc welding plant.
•  Experience / training in masonry and plumbing would be considered an asset.
•  Experience in Forklift operation would be considered an asset.

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for leading all welding and fabrication activities on the facility.

• Responsible for executing routine facilities maintenance activities such as:
• Painting of walls and floors
• Power-washing of walls and floors
• Cob-webbing of ceilings and walls
• Cleaning of drains and guttering
• Simple landscaping and garden maintenance
• Simple repair/ replacement of PVC water lines and replacement of fittings
• Simple repair/ replacement of PVC guttering

• Responsible for executing repairs and replacement of:
• Doors, gates and fences.

• Responsible for assisting with the repair and construction of walls, floors, drains and roofing systems.

• Responsible for assisting where necessary with the implementation of all projects related to improvement of employee health and safety, environmental management, mill productivity and product quality.

• Responsible for assisting with the inspection of infrastructure and environmental conditions so as to identify hazards and permit corrective action.

• To assist in the execution of continuous improvement projects to plant and facility.

• Responsible for ensuring that all health and safety policies and procedures (as guided by the EHS team) are adhered to during the execution of facilities maintenance activities.

• To assist with the provision of onsite support to contractors during the execution of sub-contracted facilities maintenance projects.
