Estate Security Superintendent
PORT AUTHORITY OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO
ESTATE SECURITY SUPERINTENDENT
The Port Authority is inviting suitably qualified Nationals of Trinidad and Tobago interested in filling the post of Estate Security Superintendent. Interested persons must satisfy the criteria specified hereunder.
General Accountability:
The Estate Security Superintendent forms part of the Senior Management Team and contributes significantly to the strategic direction of the Port. The Superintendent ensures that all activities relating to the protection and security of cargo, the Authority’s assets and port users' security are properly planned and executed. All Port Security strategies must be implemented in accordance with the Authority's Policies, Procedures and Local and International Security Regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans, directs and co-ordinates all activities relating to the protecting, safeguarding and securing of the Authority’s assets, employees, customers and other stakeholders.
- Assesses the security threat at the Ports of Port-of-Spain and Scarborough and Caricom Wharf.
- Designs, implements and monitors security policies, procedures and programmes in compliance with local and international requirements and benchmarks.
- Provides guidelines and training in investigative reporting and court proceedings.
- Liaises closely with all Law Enforcement Agencies / Intelligence Units, regarding protection of the Port's assets and cargo in its custody.
- Develops, coordinates, implements and manages approved training programmes.
- Provides extensive support to the Port's and the country's emergency management and contingency planning.
- Conducts continuous audits of security-related systems and processes.
- Updates security procedures to satisfy regulatory bodies in the interest of improving Port Security, responding to emergencies and conducting investigations.
- Manages the Estate Police Department, in keeping with the provisions of the Supplemental Police Act and in such manner that will maintain a high standard of discipline and morale among its rank.
FILLING THE POSITION OF ESTATE SECURITY SUPERINTENDENT
Minimum Qualification, Experience and Training
- Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent accreditation with an appropriate specialization in Security Management.
- Ten (10) years’ experience in security operations.
- Five (5) years' or more supervisory / management experience or any other equivalent combination of qualification and experience.
- Evidence of training in ISPS Regulations.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Comprehensive knowledge of international maritime rules and International Shipping Port Security (ISPS) regulations as they relate to security at Ports of entry and egress.
- A sound working knowledge of security best practices and legislation.
- Ability to motivate officers to perform at standards of excellence.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently and under pressure and within strict deadlines.
- Knowledge of investigative reporting and court proceedings.
- Strong security management and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent influencing and negotiating skills.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
