To monitor compliance with, enforcing environmental regulations and/or ensure environmental complaints and breaches of environmental requirements are treated in accordance with the EM Act and its subsidiary legislation.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor and ensure compliance with permit conditions;
Handle the complex cases for complaint investigations;
Develop referrals for enforcement on potential environmental breaches;
Participate in enforcement hearings and meetings;
Provide technical advice to support enforcement, compliance and other related issues;
Assist industry in meeting environmental standards through consultations and advocacy;
Assist in the development of ToRs for the contract of consultancy services;
Participate in the preparation of Unit Reports;
Represent the EMA on committees, at meetings, seminars and conferences;
Any other related responsibilities as identified by the Departmental Manager or by the designated Supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
A First degree in the Physical Sciences, Environmental Science or Environmental Management from an accredited University; OR
Graduate from an accredited institution with a Certificate or Diploma in Environmental Sciences or in Environmental Health and Safety Management and a minimum of six (6) years work experience;
Familiarity with the Laws, Regulations and protocols governing the management of the environment in T&T would be an asset;
At least two years work experience in the manufacturing, construction or oil related industry or similar industries;
Formal training in and knowledge of Incident Command System (ICS) will be an asset;
Experience in Project Management would be an asset;
Superior organizational and interpersonal skills;
Ability to multi-task;
Proficiency in writing;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
