Diploma in Animal Health, Production and Veterinary Public Health

Description:

The Diploma programme in Animal Health, Production and Veterinary Public Health is designed to meet the needs of the livestock and food industry. Graduates can seek employment as Livestock Officers, Veterinary Assistants, Animal Health Assistants and Veterinary Public Health Inspectors and at the technical level in the poultry and pork industry. Graduates are also fitted with the capability to move in the entrepreneurial direction. The programme is holistic and trains students in both the science and practice of this field of study. Students receive training in Economics and Business Management, Animal Health and Disease Management, Animal Production, Animal Nutrition, Reproduction, Food Hygiene, Clinical Procedures and Epidemiology.

Entry Requirements

  • Passes in a minimum of five (5) subjects at CXC (CSEC) General Proficiency level in Grades I or II and from 1998, Grade III which must include Mathematics, English Language and a Science subject (Physics, Chemistry, Integrated Science, Agricultural Science or Biology not Health Science or Human and Social Biology). Agricultural Science, double award, is considered as two subjects; OR
  • GCE O’ Levels including Grades A, B or C in Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry and Physics; OR
  • Completion of UTT’s Pre-University Programme (PUP) with a minimum of 50% in ALL attempted subjects areas;
  • Experience in the field of study will be highly considered;
  • Applicants may be interviewed
