ELECTRICITY-ELECTRONICS TEACHER

ELECTRICITY-ELECTRONICS TEACHER

 

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to the post of Electricity-Electronics Teacher in the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES

 

  • Teaching specified subject to groups of students as required by the Ministry of Education or the Head of the school;

 

  • Preparing students to write overseas examinations such as CXC CSEC;

 

  • Teaching students assigned according to their educational needs thereby providing them with appropriate learning experiences;

 

  • Planning and preparing the required schemes of work, lesson plans etc, for the effective delivery of the school’s programme;

 

  • Assessing students’ performance on a regular basis, discuss their performance with them and their parents or guardians and advise on the steps to be taken to improve performance;

 

  • Assisting in promoting the welfare and well-being of students and fostering their social and moral development through pastoral care;

 

  • Maintaining the required registers and records, reports and other documents as specified by the Department of Education, and report on students’ attendance, behaviour, attainment and progress;

 

  • Assisting with extra curricula activities and the care of the school’s assets;

 

  • Assisting with maintaining discipline among students in schools, on the school grounds or when attending or participating in activities sponsored or approved by the schools;

 

  • Communicating with parents or guardians and the wider community.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

PERSONNEL SPECIFICATIONS

 

Applicants should have:

 

  • a degree in Electricity or Electronics or Physics from a recognized University or Tertiary institution and professional training in education.  Consideration maybe given to a candidate with a Diploma in Industrial Arts with Electricity or Electronics as a major;

 

  • Professional training in Education;

 

  • Must have good knowledge of the main subject area to be taught;

 

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills;

 

  • Must be creative and have good team working skills;

 

  • Should be able to inspire trust and confidence in students;   

 

  • Should be able to recognize and respond to individual differences and employ different teaching methods to suit the particular situation;

 

  • Should have excellent organizational skills.

 

 

Terms of Appointment

Appointments will be made on a Permanent or Contractual basis.

 

REMUNERATION PACKAGE

 

Salary is in the scale R22-16 that is EC $49,392 - EC$58,896 per annum.
