Primary objective of the job:
- Deliver the Foundation's strategic objectives with a particular focus on operations and growth
- Design and deliver a new programme area for the Foundation focusing on social enterprise
Number of persons managed/supervised and their positions:
- 5 direct reports (Accounting Officer, Procurement Officer, PR Officer, M&E Officer)
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Advise the CEO and other key members of senior management on financial planning, budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities, and policy matters.
- Serve as the management liaison to the board and audit committee; effectively communicate and present critical financial matters at select board of directors and
committee meetings.
- Contribute to the development of Digicel Foundation's strategic goals and objectives as well as the overall management of the organization.
- Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the CEO informed of all critical issues.
- Represent the organization externally, as necessary, particularly in banking and lease negotiations.
- Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the finance and operations teams.
- Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
- Ensure staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development.
- Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance
appraisals, and administer salary adjustments.
- Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate
results.
- Upgrade and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and procedures.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute the annual budget process.
- Ensure that Digicel Foundation is adhering to the strategic plan, delivering status reports to the board.
- Provide analytical support to Digicel Foundation's internal management team including development of internal management reporting capabilities.
- Improve administrative and operational accounting services such as funds management, charity status, grants payment processing, payroll, accounts payable, and
purchasing.
- Support Programme Managers to strengthen budget management, documentation, the establishment of a Results-Based Management Framework, monitoring and
evaluation of programme deliverables, and 6-monthly Procurement Plans.
- Hold line management responsibility for the Strategic Learning & Evaluation Specialist
- Manage the overall programme budget for the Foundation's Education, Special Needs and Community Development programmes, as well as the
PR/Communications and Administration units.
- Ensure requirements under external funding agreements are adhered to and reporting requirements met.
- Hold oversight of all auditing requirements for internal, external and partner audit requirements.
- Develop, implement and monitor Procurement, Finance, and Grants Management policies.
- Lead special projects requiring cross-functional engagement with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Work with the CEO to identify, develop and implement special projects and long term strategic initiatives.
- Proactively identify informational resources that can help frame and advance Digicel Foundation's work on key trends or emerging issues for the organisation.
- Attend stakeholder meetings and create synergies amongst government, non-government and other foundation's
Academic qualifications and experience required for job:
- Minimum MBA or similar advanced degree in International Development, Sociology, Political Science, Business or legal degree is mandatory
- Minimum 10 years' experience in a senior management role ideally with both external audit and in-house financial management experience gained in a high-
growth organization
- Experience either as an employee or board member of a nonprofit organization; must be familiar with nonprofit finance and accounting regulations
