WISYNCO, the Innovators, is a leading FMCG supplier in Jamaica, manufacturing and supplying home-grown and imported brands, many of which are category leaders, to multiple distribution points island-wide. The Operations function in WISYNCO covers all aspects of the distribution (warehouse and transportation) and customer service operations and offers seamless integration with manufacturing, local and export sales and finance functions to meet and exceed customer expectations.
Being the champion for the new Warehouse Management System (WMS) project and a successor and valuable partner to the Director of Operations in modernizing and transforming the entire distribution operation to world-class standards, makes the Deputy Director Operations role an exciting career opportunity.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Deputy Director of Operations has the following core responsibilities:
- Partner with the Director of Operations in directing all day-to day operations at WISYNCO’s Distribution Center including receiving, inventory control, assembly, security, picking/packing/shipping, quality and safety, facilities and fleet management. The role will be assigned direct responsibility for managing teams (over 250 employees) and work schedules in customer services and inventory control on commencement of the job.
- Lead the strategic and budget planning cycle (expenses and capital investments), goal setting and policy/procedures development and implementation activities in Operations in conjunction with the Director of Operations.
- Champion the development and successful implementation of the new operations model and implementation of the WMS project and any future software upgrades in partnership with the PMO, IT and other functional heads.
- Design & implement supply chain initiatives, policies and processes that support business strategies, new business opportunities, acquisition of new brand distribution contracts and cost reduction strategies.
- Embed collaborative ways of working in supply chain management with sales, marketing, finance, production, operations, customer service, logistics, warehousing & quality assurance.
- Work closely with the HR Business Partner to develop and lead the talent strategy, covering pipeline management, orientation, coaching, capability development, training, engagement and performance management to build a world-class team in Operations.
- Design and implement suitable KPIs/dashboards to manage performance, quality and audit controls.
- Build a culture of KPI management and accuracy to ensure on-time and in-full deliveries everyday with 100% inventory accuracy, timely decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Support the Director Operations in the proper selection, purchase and utilization of Company assets and the optimization and design of layout and facilities upgrades, and, ensure repairs are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Actively participate and be present in day to day people management and champion initiatives to build the right capabilities and embed ways of working that optimize the WMS and workflow processes.
- Co-own all other areas of the operations and support the Director of Operations in managing compliance, safety, security and accident/incident reporting, investigations and prevention.
Ideally the candidate should have 8 – 10 years’ senior leadership experience in warehouse, distribution and logistics management (preferably FMCG), an MBA and professional project management qualifications. Strategic thinking, relationship building, communication, energy, being data/process-driven, highly organized and the ability to execute are key strengths to have.
