Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supports the overall strategic vision and direction to the UTT Aviation Institute;
- Provides guidance and direction to the respective aviation programmes, and ensures that the aviation programmes and academic structures are aligned with the objectives of the University and are able to leverage advantage to both the aviation institute and the University;
- Supports the academic and business development of the department including planning and implementing operational plans for the execution of programmes;
- Oversees entrepreneurial activity in the areas of general aviation, aviation maintenance and related areas, identifying and exploiting areas of future growth and income generation;
- Monitors activities of the aviation institute and ensure adherence to academic regulations and aviation regulatory quality standards;
- Supervises as well as prepares/delivers lectures to students within prescribed curriculum;
- Periodically reviews processes and systems and recommends additions / amendments to policies and procedures;
- Liaises with local and international Aviation and Aviation Regulatory agencies to develop accredited programmes leading to academic certification and professional licenses;
- Implements an independent Quality Manual and Audit Programme including a Training Procedures Manual, in accordance with TTCAA regulations;
- Compiles air regulations and legislation, and maintains an up-to-date log of requirements for maintaining an Approved Training Organisation and an Approved Maintenance Organization.
- Liaises with the QA&IE Department of UTT and the TTCAA, to ensure that all regulations for the ACTT and TTCAA approval are implemented and maintained;
- Manages the subscriptions and content of the technical library of the aviation institute;
- Performs any other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Holder of a valid ICAO Accredited and TTCAA recognised Aircraft Maintenance Engineers License preferably with endorsements in Rotary Wing and Jet turbine Engines.
- Minimum of ten (10) years in the Aviation industry, preferably with a background in Engineering/Maintenance/Quality Management and Technical Training, with at least five (5) years in senior management position:
- CRS experience within the last five years in aircraft types in categories above 5700 kgs Fixed Wing and /or 3175 kgs Rotary Wing
- Post Graduate qualification in the area of Aviation Management, Aviation Maintenance/Operations and Quality Management will be an asset.
- “Train the Trainer” Certification.
