Our client, the Australian High Commission, is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced candidate to fill the role of Consular/Passports, Back up Local Area Network Administrator Officer, Back up Direct Aid Program Officer

The starting salary will be $9,000.00 per month. Other benefits include Health Insurance, Annual Bonus and a Performance Bonus. The Consular/Passports, LANA will report to the Senior Administrative Officer and provide a high level of consular and passport service to Australian nationals in theCaribbean, maintain passport and consular information systems and local network/server administration. This position will be a permanent position with a 6 month probationary period within Trinidad & Tobago. 

Job Description:

  • Provide passport services to Australian citizens including passport interviews of applicants, and accurate processing of applications in accordance with the Australian Passport Act 2005.  As well as general passport enquires.
  • Maintenance of passport records, and regular archiving of passport applications and documentation.
  • Respond to consular enquires from members of the public, including counter, telephone and written enquires.
  • Provide consular assistance to Australian citizens, timely advice and reporting on consular cases.
  • Liaise withTrinidad and Tobagoauthorities, officials and agencies. 
  • Respond to general enquiries and information requests.
  • Carry out the function of back up post LAN administration and manage MIS systems
  • Act as back-up for Direct Aid Program Officer
  • Petty cash officer
  • Other duties as may be determined from time to time.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • The ability to undertake consular and passport services including providing consular assistance to Australian citizens and the processing of passport applications.
  • A high level of interpersonal skills with a client service focus and the ability to deal with difficult situations, including consular crises.  
  • The ability to prioritize tasking and manage workflow in a high pressure environment, often within tight deadlines. 
  • The ability to work cooperatively, efficiently and flexibly as a member of a small team.  The ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Formal qualifications or recent relevant experience in accounting and ICT service delivery and LAN administration is highly desirable.
  • Experience in program management or ability to acquire it.
