We are about to bring a completely new dimension to the shopping experience by launching Guyana’s first shopping mall. We intend to become the preferred shopping destination not only in Guyana but the Caribbean. The Giftland Mall will feature over 140 different concessions including the largest Sports, Electronics, Stationery & Office Supplies and Furniture stores in Guyana and the Caribbean. There will be an 8 Multiplex Theater, Video Arcades, a Supermarket, Beauty Salons, Health & Nutrition Stores, Barber Shops, a Jewelry Store, ATMs and many more amenities.
Chief Security Officer
The Chief Security Officer is responsible for Giftland’s entire security infrastructure, both physical and digital. This entails ensuring that organizational protection goals and objectives are consistent with organization strategic plans and working in conjunction with company executives to decide on the priority of security needs. The Chief Security Officer is also responsible for overseeing security policies meant to protect a network of Directors, Managers and staff and work with local, Caribbean and international security agencies.
Responsibilities Include:
- Oversee and coordinate security efforts across the company, including information technology, human resources, communications, legal, facilities management and other groups.
- Devise policies and procedures regarding areas such as loss prevention, privacy and disaster preparedness.
- Responsible for conducting security site reviews, writing audit/review reports, reviewing findings and making recommendations to Management.
- Develop procedures to ensure physical safety of employees and visitors.
- Develop emergency procedures and incident responses.
- Ensure security is maintained and updated.
- Develop risk management assessments.
- Perform incident analysis and investigate all security breaches.
- Provide support to staff and assist in conducting investigations of significant threats and or the loss or misappropriation of assets.
- Implement and manage video surveillance.
- Prioritize security initiatives.
- Maintain all security related equipment and working areas to a high standard of cleanliness and safety and ensure all defects are reported.
- Maintain relationships with law enforcement and other related government agencies.
- Complete relevant records and log books, in a professional manner providing sufficient detail.
- Support and comply with Giftland’s Fire, Health and Safety, and Security policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the induction and training of new members of the team.
- Create global security policy, standards, guidelines and procedures to ensure ongoing maintenance of security.

Key Skills and Experience:
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Ability to plan, design, develop, test, implement and monitor IT security systems.

- At least five (5) years related work experience in the security industry, including work in security management
- Experience in a retail environment would be an asset
Educational Requirements:
- Master’s or Bachelor's Degree in Security Management, Risk Management or a related field
