CHAIR OCCUPATIONAL AND PHYSICAL THERAPY DEPARTMENT
The Chair, Occupational and Physical Therapy (OT/PT) is among the strategic leaders responsible for the strategic and tactical aspect of program development and department management that embodies the mission of the University.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directs the Occupational and Physical Therapy Department
- Lead, direct, mentor and evaluate faculty and other team members
- In consultation with the faculty Dean, continuously evaluates and oversees the implementation of courses and programs in the department while initiating new programs
- Assist the Dean with budget planning and problem solving activities related to OT/PT
- Manage the department’s budget
- In collaboration with course Instructors, review and recommend updates for course outlines
- Direct and conducts annual self-study and program evaluation of the OT/PT programs as required by accrediting bodies
- Work with appropriate directors, vice-presidents, and deans on recruitment, admissions, development, research, public relations and other projects/tasks as needed.
- Works with the marketing team in actively marketing the programs
- Work with the Dean’s Office as needed for program development, staying current on all ongoing trends and changes within the OT/PT profession.
- Teach and mentor students and faculty.
- Teach and engage in scholarly endeavors and service as appropriate for the discipline and department
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean
- Attend required convocations, meetings, commencement, academic awards ceremonies, and workshops and be available to participate in activities that promote the University in a positive manner both on and off campus
- Engage in service to the School/Department through committee membership
- Active involvement in scholarly research and service
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- An Earned doctoral degree PhD or EdD
- Licensed to practice as an Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist
- At least 7 years of prior OT/PT experience at the graduate level- experience preferable in both residential and online environments
- At least two years academic leadership experience in higher education environment
- Extensive knowledge of the requirements and standards for OT/PT programs
- Strong commitment to high quality leadership and management in a SDA Christian, student-centered environment and the ability to work with a diverse team
