JOB DESCRIPTION – CASHIER
-Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
-Maintain and manage a clean and orderly work station and checkout areas.
-Interacting with the customers that come to the counter.
-Guiding and solving all customer cash related queries. Assist in Resolving customer complaints in a proactive manner
-Reporting discrepancies they find within the accounts (price differences /credit notes etc) to their superiors.
-Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits. Receiving coupons and deducting the said amount from the customers.
-Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or correct change due to customers.
-Organizing all the work they do and maintaining accurate accounting records.
-Maintaining daily account of all the daily transactions. In addition they are responsible for processing refunds and exchanges.
-Balancing the daily cash received at the end of each day- (inclusive of maintaining spreadsheet of daily sales and ensure accuracy in number sequence/method of payment on invoices etc).
-Checking the daily cash balance and float at end of day is accurate. Closing the till and preparing deposits.
-Perform the duties of Customer Service Representative or assist the Accountant in any other related duty when required.
-Maintain knowledge of store inventory and sales activities.
-Train other staff members to work as cashier.
-If the establishment operates a second shift ensure the handing over process of cash and documents are accurate.
