CREDIT MANAGER

The Bank of Nevis Limited invitesapplications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of: 

 

CREDIT MANAGER

The successful candidate will report directly to the General Manager and is expected to have a broad understanding of economic and business fundamentals, credit risk analysis, pricing and packaging of loans, and knowledge of the banking environment in which the Bank operates.  Additionally, the candidate should have the ability to analyze, evaluate and interpret financial data for the formulation of credit proposals.

 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Prepare, analyze and evaluate credit proposals to assess credit risks and manage credit facilities with emphasis on selection, control, protection and recoverability
  • Approve loans within specified limits, and refer loan applications outside those limits to management for approval.
  • Determine profitable and competitive pricing to maintain targeted margins
  • Ongoing review of the credit  portfolio to ensure that all related terms and conditions are satisfied and securities perfected
  • Manage and administer efficient and effective corporate and retail credit portfolios to minimize loss, reduce exposure and maximize customer retention and satisfaction
  • Manage the delinquent portfolio to ensure non-performing ratio is maintained within the international benchmark
  • Implement procedures for credit risk management to ensure efficiency, safety and profitability
  • Develop training programmes for  staff and establish targets and performance measures for them to achieve departmental plans
  • Review market conditions for opportunities to attract new customers and expand the loan portfolio

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management or other related field plus a minimum of  5 - 6 years experience in commercial lending or 10 – 15 years experience in commercial banking of which 10 years should be at a managerial level plus a minimum of 5 - 6 years experience in commercial lending
  • Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency
  • A Master’s Degree in any of the fields above would be an asset.
  • Certified Underwriting qualification would be an asset.
