JOB DESCRIPTION – CREDIT CLERK
A CREDIT CLERK is required to actively conduct FOLLOW – UP action on ALL accounts that are in arrears in an effort to keep the said accounts UP TO DATE at ALL TIMES. In addition, a CREDIT CLERK must perform the necessary ADMINISTRATIVE functions in relation to COLLECTION and in support of the CREDIT DEPARTMENT and the HIRE PURCHASE portfolio.
The CREDIT CLERK is reportable to the CREDIT MANAGER/CREDIT SUPERVISOR. He/she must develop a harmonious and cordial relationship with the Department’s personnel in order to communicate any information freely and in the proper manner.
The main RESPONSIBILITIES are as follows:
Identify ALL accounts that are in arrears on the first day after the installment becomes due
Make contact (Directly/Indirectly) with the respective delinquent Hirers via telephone (Cell, work, residence) and discuss the nonpayment of the installment in an effort to have it paid up
Send TEXT messages as be necessary
Leave messages with Employers, References, or Relatives at residence, if unable to contact Hirer
Interview delinquent Hirers and make satisfactory arrangements for repayment of arrears
Educate Hirers with respect to the benefits for paying on time
Make Diary Notes for all promises made to pay and follow-up on the promises on expiration
Document ALL follow-up action done via “NOTES” on the respective accounts
Issue Repossession/Collection Authorities to the Bailiffs/Collectors as be necessary
Obtain progress reports from our Bailiffs/Collectors within 7 Days time from the date of issue
Revalidate Authorities for the Bailiffs/Collectors as be necessary
Recall Authorities and re-issue to another Bailiff/Collector in the absence of a satisfactory report
Review accounts on which Authorities have been issued to ensure that Bailiff’s/Collector’s FEES are deducted when payments have been made
Exhaust all SKIP TRACING leads available in an effort to locate Hirers who have moved
Follow-up on problematic cases where the “GOODS” are defective/mal functioning etc., with the relevant in-house personnel in an effort to resolve the situation
Recommend to the Credit Manager/Credit Supervisor, ALL accounts (on which your efforts have been exhausted) to be sent to our COLLECTION AGENCY
