 CHIEF ENGINEER

The successful applicant will be responsible for the overall maintenance and management of mechanical and physical assets in accordance with the high standards of Sandals/Beaches properties. The property must be maintained in an optimum and efficient condition, with the safety and comfort of guests as paramount. He/She will manage all engineering operations for interior/exterior facilities including electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, heating/cooling, structural, ground care and parking areas.

 Applicants should satisfy the following minimum requirements:

• Must be able to maintain hotel standards, policies and procedures as they relate to Health and Safety

• Must be able to develop and implement energy efficient strategies for utility consumptions
• Must be able to troubleshoot all mechanical, electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems in a timely manner
• Must be able to motivate and lead a team of technicians with varied trades
• Must be able to read and understand blueprints and schematics
• Must be able to think clearly under high pressure or emergencies
• Must be able to organize, direct, plan and control all engineering activities
• Must be proactive, self-motivated, flexible and be ready to work long hours

Qualification and Experience

• A minimum of a first degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Civil Engineering from a recognized College/University 
• Working knowledge of ASHRAE, JS21, NFPA & NEC life safety codes and standards
• CEM/CFM certification preferred
• Experience working in the Caribbean preferred
• A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the hospitality industry or a closely related field
• Computer literate with standard computer applications and software i.e. Microsoft Windows/Excel/Access/Outlook
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
