Professional work in the rehabilitation of substance abuse patients
KEY FUNCTIONS
Performs substance abuse nursing in the rehabilitation of patients.
Conducts interviews with client and their relatives for Intake History, assessment, planned management and documentation.
Interviews in crisis situations and counsels clients and their families who may experience trauma
Trains and supervises nursing students
Assists in the planning and operation of out-patient substance abuse clinics and treatment programmes including collecting and recording of urine samples
Visits discharged patients and reports on their adjustment/re-adjustment and progress.
Assists in preparing home or work environment for the re-adjustment of discharged patients.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE
Qualified Psychiatric Nurse with Certification in Mental Health Nursing
Degree in Social Work
Certification in Rehabilitation of Substance Abuse/Addiction Studies
Registration with the Nursing Council of Trinidad and Tobago in Mental Health Nursing
