ExporTT

ExporTT

On the 11th October 2012, exporTT became the sole national Export Facilitation Organisation of Trinidad and Tobago with the mandate of “Creating internationally competitive firms in the non-energy manufacturing and services sectors to grow and diversify trade and generate wealth through export led growth.

The new mandate has greatly clarified the role and responsibilities of exporTT, allowing it to focus on the area of greatest national need: non energy exports. exporTT will be the implementing agency for the GORTT’s National Export Strategy which is currently being developed as well as the Trade Policy which was recently completed. The activities of the company will have a strong synergy with the goals and objectives of the Trade Directorate at Ministry of Trade Industry and Investments.

There are two major activities which exporTT will be engaged in and these are export promotion and export development. Export promotion includes: identification of export markets, market research and contact promotion missions, tradeshows and dissemination of information business opportunities. Export development is just as important as export promotion in that it ensures that exporters have the capacity and standards required to export to new and existing markets. There can be no trade if an exporter is unable to deliver the quantity of product with the acceptable quality. Export development includes: Co-financing (essentially reduces the exporter’s cost of doing business), research and development grants and export training.
