Bermuda Hospitals Board is responsible for King Edward VII Memorial Hospital (KEMH) and Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute (MWI), facilities offering high quality care to all patients.

KEMH is an acute and long-term care facility, providing comprehensive medical care. The hospital employs a diverse nursing and medical staff and has a total of 327 beds in private, semi-private, and public wards.

KEMH is accredited by the Canadian Council of Health Services Accreditation (CCHSA). Additionally, the Pathology Department is accredited by Joint Commission International (JCI), while the American College of Radiology Mammography Accreditation Program (ACR) accredits the Mammography department.

Approximately fifty physicians, 320 registered nurses and 105 nursing assistants are employed at KEMH. In addition, 120 private physicians on the Island have hospital privileges.

KEMH provides asthma management, cardiac diagnostics, dietetic services, diabetes management, diagnostic imaging, dialysis treatment and hyperbaric and wound care management. In addition, the hospital offers laboratory, pathology, oncology, rehabilitation and surgical services.

A team of emergency department personnel treats over 34,000 patients annually, while a new state-of-the-art Intensive Care unit provides services to approximately 300 patients annually. KEMH has well-equipped laboratories and both in- and outpatient physiotherapy departments. There is also a functioning recompression chamber.

MWI provides a high standard of comprehensive mental healthcare, with services that cover all areas of psychiatry, including acute general adult psychiatry, child and adolescence, rehabilitation, community care, extended care and the psychiatric sub-specialties of learning disability and substance misuse.

MWI has 130 inpatient beds and several community group homes. An interdisciplinary, multi-cultural team of professionals provides care and services. MWI is recognized by the Royal College of Psychiatry as a training site for psychiatric resident doctors.
