The Audit Assistant is responsible for executing the audit plans and programmes developed and approved by the Internal Auditor and the Audit and Finance Committee of the North West Regional Health Authority
The Audit Assistant is responsible for executing the audit plans and programmes developed and approved by the Internal Auditor and the Audit and Finance Committee of the North West Regional Health Authority. He/She reports on whether internal controls are operating effectively and makes recommendations as to how controls can be enhanced and identifies weaknesses and noncompliance to policies, and makes recommendations for improvements.
KEY FUNCTIONS
Conducts Audits of the functions and activities at the various institutions under the purview of the Authority, to determine the nature of operations and the adequacy of the systems utilized for achieving established objectives and controls.
Audit various arrears of salary and other allowances before they can be processed for payment.
Examines all records and files e.g. accounting records, pay record cards, personnel files and other confidential records as required in the conduct of an audit at the various locations where these records are held.
Obtains, analyzes and appraises data to make an informed objective opinion about the adequacy and effectiveness of the system and the efficiency of the performance of activities under review.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of CAT or Level one (1) ACCA.
Minimum of three (3) years experience in an auditing environment.
Experience in accounting and auditing software packages will be an asset.
